POSITION OVERVIEW:
Herzog’s Design Center is seeking a dynamic and experienced Design Consultant willing to sell custom window blinds and coverings, custom drapery and pillows, upholstery, wallpaper, decorative tile, flooring and provide paint consultations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for interior design, a keen eye for detail, and exceptional customer service skills. As a Retail Design Consultant, you will work closely with clients to understand their needs and preferences, providing expert guidance and recommendations to create beautiful and functional spaces. As a department manager you will be expected to provide leadership and demonstrate problem solving skills. Multi-tasking, decision making, and employee development will be critical in this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Client Consultations: Conduct thorough consultations with clients to understand their design goals, preferences, and budget constraints.
- Product Expertise: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of a wide range of products including custom window blinds and coverings, custom drapery and pillows, upholstery, wallpaper, decorative tile, flooring and paint options. Knowledge of Hunter Douglas products helpful.
- Design Solutions: Develop innovative and tailored design solutions that meet the unique requirements of each client, taking into consideration factors such as aesthetics, functionality, and budget.
- Product Presentation: Present product options and design concepts to clients in a clear and engaging manner, utilizing visual aids such as samples and swatches.
- Project Management: Coordinate all aspects of the design process from initial consultation including accurate measurements to final installation, ensuring timely delivery and exceptional quality.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service at every stage of the design process, addressing client inquiries, concerns, and feedback with professionalism and courtesy.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships with clients, architects, interior designers, contractors, and vendors to foster repeat business and referrals.
- Trends and Market Research: Stay informed about current trends, innovations, and developments in the interior design industry, and incorporate relevant insights into design recommendations.
- Administrative Tasks: Complete administrative tasks such as preparing quotes, processing orders, and maintaining accurate records of client interactions and sales activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in design related fields preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Sales experience helpful.
- Comfortable in a retail sales environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for creativity and innovation.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
